Getting paid in crypto, made simple.
You just got hired on Artifus — or you're about to. Here's everything you need to set up a wallet, understand how escrow protects you, and receive your money safely. Six short steps, explained in plain language — no confusing crypto terms.
Why does it run on crypto?
First, what Artifus is — and isn't. We're aplatform, not a bank: we never pay you and we never hold your money. Our smart contracts — built for fast, fair hiring — let you and the client deal directly. The funds live in a decentralized contract on Polygon, between the two of you, and Artifus only takes a small fee per deal.
Your money never sits with Artifus
Funds are held by a decentralized smart contract on Polygon — between you and the client. We can't touch them, freeze them, or run off with them.
Locked up front
Before you start, the client deposits the full amount into that contract. You can see it's there — real, funded, waiting. Nobody can yank it back on a whim.
It releases automatically
When the work is approved, the contract pays you directly — usually in seconds. No invoices, no net-30, no chargebacks.
Just a small fee, fully decentralized
Artifus takes only a small commission per completed deal. Everything else stays between you and the client, on-chain — never with us.
Get a wallet
A crypto wallet is just your account — like a banking app, except you hold the keys. It gives you an address (think account number) where payments arrive. Setup takes about two minutes, and it's free.
Install Coinbase Wallet
Grab it free from the App Store, Google Play, or as a Chrome extension. (Search "Coinbase Wallet" — the blue one.)
Create your wallet
Tap "Create new wallet." It generates a recovery phrase — 12 words. Write them on paper and keep them offline. This is the only way back into your wallet.
That's it — you have an address
You now own an address that starts with 0x…. That's where your Artifus payments will land.
Prefer another wallet? Artifus works with all of these:
Get to know USDC
You'll be paid in USDC, and the good news: you need nothing on your balance to start — Artifus covers the network fees for you. Here's the whole picture.
USDC is a digital dollar
1 USDC ≈ $1, always. It's a "stablecoin" — it doesn't swing around like Bitcoin. What you earn keeps its value.
It runs on Polygon
Artifus uses Polygon — a fast, low-cost network. Transactions settle in seconds, with fees measured in fractions of a cent.
No tokens needed to start
You don't need to buy or hold anything. When you sign a transaction — claiming a payout or raising a dispute — Artifus pays the network fee for you. Just a wallet is enough.
Turning it back into cash
Whenever you want, send your USDC to Coinbase (or any exchange), sell it, and withdraw to your bank. Spend it as crypto, or as dollars — your call.
How a payment actually works
Every Artifus job runs on a smart contract. Here's the full journey of your money — from handshake to your wallet.
Agree the terms
Scope, price & deadline, set together.
Client funds escrow
Full amount locked in USDC.
You do the work
Money's already secured.
Submit & approve
Deliver, client signs off.
You get paid
Escrow releases to you.
Nothing starts until it's funded
The contract goes live only once the client's USDC is locked in escrow. If it's not funded, you haven't committed anything.
Milestones, if you want them
Big project? Split it into milestones. Each one releases its slice of escrow as it's approved — so you're paid along the way.
Disagreements have a path
If something's disputed, escrow holds the funds safely while it's resolved — no one can run off with the money mid-argument.
Getting your money
When the client approves, the contract releases USDC straight to your wallet— usually within seconds. From there, it's yours to keep or cash out.
Keep it as USDC
It's a stable digital dollar — hold it, send it, or pay others with it directly from your wallet.
Or cash out to your bank
Send the USDC to Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken, sell it for your local currency, and withdraw to your bank account.
Your reputation grows
Every paid contract appears on your Artifus profile as verifiable proof of work — making the next client an easier yes.
Your work, recorded forever
Every contract's data — terms, amount, who, when, the outcome — is created and stored on-chain as metadata, and stays available as permanent history. From it, both sides earn a reputation that can't be faked.
Everything lives on-chain
Agreeing, funding, delivering, releasing — each step is written as metadata on Polygon. No one can edit or delete it, so the full history is always there to check.
Both sides get a soulbound NFT
When a contract completes, you andthe client each receive a copy as a soulbound NFT — a non-transferable credential bound to your wallet. It can't be sold, swapped, or faked.
Reputation runs both ways
You build a track record of delivered work; the client builds one of fair, funded, paid contracts. Trust is earned — and visible — on both sides.
It follows you anywhere
Because the proof is on-chain, it isn't trapped inside Artifus. Any client or app can verify your history independently, forever.

One rule that keeps you safe
Your 12-word recovery phrase is the master key to your wallet. Keep it offline and never type it into a website or share it with anyone. Artifus, Coinbase, and any real support agent will never ask for it — if someone does, it's a scam. That's genuinely the main thing to remember.
That's it. Go get hired.
Connect your wallet, claim your profile, and let escrow handle the trust. Your first verified contract is one handshake away.
